Manoir de la Chapelle

THE ABANDONED HOUSE IN BELGIUM

‘Manoir de la Chapelle’ was an old and abandoned villa close to Aarschot in Belgium. Today the house is inhabited again after it was reconverted.

The house was built, along the Diestsesteenweg, at the end of the 19th century by a local priest. Inside the villa is a chapel, complete with stained-glass and statues. The villa became abandoned when the owners moved to an old-folks home. The villa stood empty until the owners died, and the heirs put the villa up for sale.

During my visit in 2011, the beautiful villa was slowly rotting away. Luckily, the villa was sold and is in use again as a house. Follow this link for more abandoned houses.
